While the fashion space in Asia grows, there’s no better place to follow this era of fashion now than @3rd___space, a multi-label concept store which aims to spotlight the breakout names of the Southeast Asian fashion space.
As the era of fashion in our local scene evolves, a new space is broadening horizons by introducing rising labels and designers from neighbouring Asian cities aiming to truly elevate the local fashion landscape.
3rd Space highlights emerging independent brands from across Southeast Asia, curating a contemporary hub that celebrates art, fashion, and connection within the local creative community.
Founded by the creative minds behind ETC Smiles, the space serves as both a collection of works from designers inspired by their passion for fashion and a showcase of the influences that inform their creation and curation. And it really shows as the interior reflects this spirit, decorated with archival magazines, curated objects, and designer pieces. While maintaining a minimalist concept-store, the space incorporates thoughtful design details that really showcased their passion for modern design.
3rd space isn’t built. It’s felt.
“There are so many Thai, Vietnamese, and Indonesian brands making waves across Asia, yet it’s unfortunate that many of our local stores haven’t embraced them the way we’d hoped,” says Penguin, one of the founders of 3rd Space. With Malaysia’s fashion industry on the rise, the critique feels valid — many style enthusiasts seeking inspiration beyond the local scene are turning to neighbouring countries for fresh looks and styles. In an effort to change that, everyone behind this project made moves, visiting shops overseas and approaching brands that have inspired them over the years to curate a collection they want the local scene to really know.
The result? A curated collection from emerging brands like Hotel, LINISS, LIDER and even their own collections with etcid plus more, all in a single space in PJ. With a diverse collection from multiple brands of different backgrounds, the 3rd Space project aims to evolve the fashion scene by showing how different styles can all come together as one by giving Malaysians the opportunity to explore and try them on locally.
Having worked with brands like Levi’s and Nike, the team behind the space knows their craft — and it shows in their curated looks. Here are some of the outfits they’ve put together using pieces from the store!
With the store starting off to a strong launch — and even more to come in the future, 3rd space is looking to truly broaden the fashion scene in Malaysia. Check out the store details here!
Big thanks to Penguin for showing us around!
